This Veterans Day, we took a moment to recognize three people on our team who once wore a different uniform: Tommy Harris, Ed Harmon, and Gerardo Gomez.

They each served in the U.S. military before joining Mehr Consultancy, and the lessons they carried forward in discipline, teamwork, and leadership show up in the work they do every day.

Highlighting Ed Harmon’s Story

Ed Harmon, our Director of Maintenance, enlisted at just 17. Military service runs deep in his family. His father and uncles served during World War II, and their stories made a lasting impression on him.

“I started in the National Guard while still in school,” Ed said. “Through the California Cadet Corps and ROTC, I learned discipline, accountability, and teamwork. Those lessons still guide me every day.”

Ed served in both the National Guard and the Active Army, including Operation Vigilant Warrior in Iraq and Kuwait. During his years of service, he helped with space shuttle landings, supported community operations during the LA riots, and trained with teams across the country. Every role taught him something new about focus and follow-through, qualities his coworkers still see in him today.

Carrying Lessons Forward

When we asked Ed how his time in the military shapes the way he leads, he didn’t hesitate:

“The military taught me that every person plays an important role, whether you’re leading a mission or supporting one. That mindset translates directly to how I lead today.”

That steady, team-first approach is something Tommy, Ed, and Gerardo share. They know what it means to rely on one another, to stay calm when things get hectic, and to take pride in the details that keep everything running smoothly.

A Simple Thank You

At Mehr, we’re grateful to work alongside people who have served our country and now serve our clients with that same dedication.

To Ed, Tommy, Gerardo, and all veterans, thank you for your service and for the example you set every day.
