Each quarter, we highlight a General Manager whose leadership stands out across our portfolio. This quarter, we are proud to recognize Elizabeth Prins, General Manager of Fairfield by Marriott Austin/Buda, as Mehr’s GM of the Quarter.
Elizabeth’s approach to leadership reflects the kind of steady, people-focused management that drives long-term success. From building team morale to setting clear expectations and leading by example, she has created an environment where support, structure, and care for others all work together.
Celebrating Elizabeth Prins’ Leadership Approach
Can you share a little about your journey in hospitality and what inspired you to become a General Manager?
I started my career in Education and then transitioned to Hospitality and fell in love with it. Started as Night Audit and moved to Front Desk, Supervisor, Operations Manager. It has always been a goal to become a GM and I am enjoying all the challenges.
What do you believe sets your leadership style apart, and how has it impacted your team and property?
I do believe in balance and also leading by example. I implement a hands-on approach. Setting the standard and expectations and following through. Taking care of employees so in turn they can take care of their peers and our guests.
What’s something unique, creative, or exciting you’ve introduced at your property that you’re especially proud of?
We do treasure our morning huddles where we handle business and then switch to a lighter note where everyone participates and shares their answer for the question of the day and we go around and everyone shares if they are having a thumbs up or thumbs down kind of day. We offer extra support and encouragement to the thumbs down. We love building Team Morale.
This award recognizes you as GM of the Quarter. What do you feel contributed most to earning this recognition?
Commitment and staying focused and setting goals. Also support and guidance from my leadership. There is always something new and more to learn.
What motivates you in your role, and what advice would you share with other hospitality leaders striving to make an impact?
My Team, our Guests and daily challenges. Patience and keeping an open mind.
What’s it like working for a Mehr-managed property, and how would you describe the team culture that makes your property successful?
Working for Mehr Consultancy, is knowing that there is always a huge support system and a vast amount of knowledge and experience.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your team, property, or your experience as a leader?
By being in a safe and healthy work environment, I really do enjoy when team members thrive in the workplace.
