Great leadership drives great hospitality.  Our General Managers set the tone for their teams, their properties, and the guest experience, and we are proud to recognize those who consistently lead with integrity, care, and accountability.

Each quarter, we highlight one General Manager whose leadership, performance, and commitment to their team stand out across our portfolio. This quarter, we are honored to recognize Roxann Gray, General Manager of Holiday Inn Express & Suites Frazier Park, in Lebec, CA, as MEHR’s 2025 Q4 GM of the Quarter.

Roxann’s approach to leadership reflects what we value most: treating people with respect, creating a supportive work environment, and understanding that strong results come from strong relationships. Her recognition is a reflection of individual achievement and culture she has built alongside her team.


Celebrating Roxann Gray’s Leadership Approach


Can you share a little about your journey in hospitality and what inspired you to become a General Manager?

Encouragement definitely inspired me. Having people believe in me gave me the confidence to grow and step into leadership.


What do you believe sets your leadership style apart, and how has it impacted your team and property?

I try to treat my crew the way I want to be treated. I remember how each position feels because I have worked those roles myself. I also make it a priority to give everyone time with their family and their kids. Having a personal life alongside a job is important, and I believe that is what sets us apart from other places.


What’s something unique or meaningful you’ve introduced at your property that you’re especially proud of?

We recognize an Employee of the Month, and it gives me the opportunity to acknowledge each person’s unique experience with us. Everyone has their own strengths, and some months they step outside their comfort zones and really try. I like to embrace them for that. I don’t expect perfection. Effort goes a long way with me.


What motivates you in your role, and what advice would you share with other hospitality leaders striving to make an impact?

Happiness and peace motivate me. We all deserve to be happy, and I try to remember that those who create peace are truly happy.


What’s it like working at a MEHR-managed property, and how would you describe the team culture at your hotel?

MEHR has been great from the beginning. Early on, I kept thinking and telling myself how proud I was to be part of this team and how they consistently work together to find the best people and solutions, try new ideas, and grow. They gave me the opportunity to make mistakes, learn, and grow. They have always been very supportive and family-oriented. I truly don’t think there is a nicer place to work anywhere else.
